Our board

I’m Mark, a governance professional with broad experience across sectors including sport, education, finance, public services, charity and social housing. I’m a chartered company secretary and member of the Institute of Leadership, a fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute UK and Ireland, and chair of its Yorkshire and Humber branch.

Alongside my professional roles, I contribute to research with the Centre for AI in Board Effectiveness and support young people as a business volunteer with Young Enterprise. I’m also proud to serve as chair and trustee at Beyond the Margin, where we’re focused on improving wellbeing, aspirations, and skills through community-led support in Bradford.

I’m Leanne, a trustee at Beyond the Margin, with a background spanning sales, fundraising, brand, and communications across both private and charity sectors. I’m passionate about equity, inclusion, and helping everyone realise their potential, free from systemic barriers and stigma.

My career began in sales leadership before moving into the charity sector, where I led successful fundraising and supporter engagement strategies. I also bring experience from the creative industries, where I developed a strong belief in the power of authentic storytelling to inspire change.

Alongside my work in sales and fundraising, I also work as an academic coach at Shipley College, supporting learners in building confidence and achieving their goals. I balance my professional work with several voluntary roles and run my own business, all driven by a deep commitment to people-powered change.

I’m passionate about amplifying marginalised voices and creating environments where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued through purpose-led action.

At Beyond the Margin, I focus on strategy, governance, and communications. I’m proud to support a service that puts community first, challenges inequality, and helps people thrive.

I’m Helen, a founding trustee with a long-standing commitment to community-led change. I founded Hope Housing, a charity supporting people experiencing homelessness, and have been a director of several organisations, including Lillay Light Food and Buttershaw Christian Family Centre.

My background includes developing innovative projects tackling poverty, homelessness, and youth inequality. I bring practical experience in leadership, budgeting, safeguarding, and staying focused on the people who need support the most.

At Beyond the Margin, I’m proud to help shape an organisation rooted in compassion, inclusion, and real impact.

I’m Tanya, a trustee at Beyond the Margin and the board’s safeguarding lead. With 17 years in health and social care, I’ve worked across recruitment, complex care, and homelessness services. I currently serve as chief operating officer at Happy Days UK, supporting people in crisis.

Throughout my career, I’ve led strategic growth initiatives and developed innovative service models to support individuals facing multiple disadvantages. I’ve built strong partnerships with local authorities and community organisations, and have a deep understanding of navigating complex regulatory frameworks, including CQC and Ofsted.

I’ve also led workforce development programmes to build staff capability and retention, driven measurable improvements through quality assurance projects, and managed risk in high-pressure environments.

At Beyond the Margin, I bring my safeguarding and operational expertise to help guide governance and ensure our services remain safe, impactful, and person-centred.

I’m Thomas, a founding trustee at Beyond the Margin and a lifelong advocate for youth work, creativity, and community development. After growing up in Bradford and spending time in London, I returned to West Yorkshire to lead youth provision at Orange Box Young People’s Centre and later Calderdale Council, where I managed inclusive play, SEN youth voice, and a free school meals programme.

Alongside this, I worked as a freelance events manager, eventually heading up the 2022–2024 event series at The Piece Hall, Halifax. I now oversee commercial operations at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, including Pictureville and IMAX cinemas.

I bring a creative, hands-on approach to the board, with a passion for reaching disadvantaged communities and creating inclusive spaces.

I’m Graeme, treasurer at Beyond the Margin and a qualified accountant with broad experience in financial management and governance. I oversee the charity’s financial health by preparing financial reports, building budgets, and guiding long-term financial strategy.

I work closely with auditors and the board to ensure transparency and sustainability, while making sure our financial operations align with both regulatory standards and the real needs of the communities we serve.

It’s a privilege to contribute to an organisation that combines creativity, care, and community to create lasting change. I’m the newest member of the team, but I look forward to guiding Beyond the Margin towards sustainable financial practices and fulfilling its mission.
